Dear Parishioners,

The parish website is updated with the Mass times for this week Fr. Jose’s weekly message, the weeky newsletter for this week, and church notices.

Good Shepherd Sunday is next week where we pray for vocations and support the Priest Training Fund, which forms men for service across our parishes, schools, hospitals, and communities.

The month of May is especially dedicated to Our Blessed Lady and so there will be daily Recitation of the Rosary, each evening.

The big event in May is our International Mass.It is an opportunity for all of us to come together to celebrate and thank God for the Catholic faith shared among the many nationalities that make up our parish family.

Dear family members and friends, in today’s Gospel we see a beautiful encounter of two disciples with the risen Jesus. They were on their way to Emmaus when Jesus joined them. They were very sad because of the crucifixion of Jesus. They had not realised Jesus as the Saviour since what had happened to Jesus was quite unbelievable for them. But Jesus walked with them, explained the scriptures to them, opened their hearts to understand the scriptures and finally broke the bread where their eyes were opened and they recognised Jesus. We are called to such an encounter with Jesus in every Holy Eucharistic celebration. It is the time when our hearts are opened to receive the Word of God and see Jesus in the Holy Eucharist where the bread is broken. Let us open our hearts and eyes to have a personal encounter with Jesus in our every day life. Amen

International Mass – Pentecost Sunday

This is an opportunity for us to come together to celebrate and thank God for the Catholic faith shared among the many nationalities that make up our parish family here at St. Simon’s. After the Mass we will gather in the church hall to share food and friendship. Anyone who would like to be involved in help plan the day, to help set up the hall, volunteer as singers, readers, or supplying food or drink for the shared lunch please put your name on the sheet on the noticeboard or see Titus or Thereza after Mass.

Today is Diving Mercy Sunday. It is a major feast day in the Catholic Church and dedicated to the devotion of God’s mercy, emphasizing complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.

After the morning Mass today there will be tea and coffee served in the Church Hall.
