Parish News – 7th June

Dear Parishioners,

The parish website is updated with the Mass times for this week Fr. Jose’s weekly message, the weeky newsletter for this week, and church notices.

Today is the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, the Feast of Corpus Christi. Coming up on Friday is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus with solemn Mass at 7pm.

Also, we are looking to make a reader’s rota for weekday Masses so that this ministry does not fall on the shoulders of just a few parishioners. Give your name to Fr. Jose if you would like to offer to read during the week.

Have a great week.

A Message From Fr. Jose – 7th June

Fr. Jose - Parish Priest

Fr. Jose – Parish Priest

Dear family members and friends, Today we celebrate the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, the Feast of Corpus Christi. In today’s Gospel Jesus said,” For my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.” Jesus further said, “Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

St. Paul says as we read in the second reading, “Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. “All these tell us the importance of receiving the body and blood of Jesus in the sacramental form, i.e. we live because of Him. In the first reading we are reminded about manna. God fed the Israelites with manna in order to make them know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Amen

Today Is the Feast of The Most Holy Body and Blood Of Christ – A Holy Day Of Obligation

We will today celebrate the Feast of our Lord with procession and benediction after mass. We welcome our children who celebrated their First Communion last Saturday to help us in leading the procession and honoring the Lord by their witness to receiving him. Let us all join in the procession and celebrate that sacrament by which we are made one with God and citizens of heaven.

Magnifica Humanitas – Pope Leo XIV’s first encyclical letter

Pope Leo XIV has taken up the legacy of his predecessor, writing a social encyclical which addresses one of the principal challenges of the contemporary age: artificial intelligence. Magnifica humanitas offers powerful insights into the protection of the human person in the age of artificial intelligence, recognising a profound epochal shift. It places the dignity of the human person at the centre as the criteria for guiding technical progress.

Copies of the letter in booklet form are available via CTS priced at £6.95 each. If you would like a copy please order through the repository (shop). Thank you.
