Dear Parishioners,

The parish website is updated with the Mass times for this week Fr. Jose’s weekly message, the weeky newsletter for this week, and church notices.

The Annual May Devotion To Our Lady is tomorrow.  We close Mary’s month of May by celebrating together on the solemnity of Mary, Mother of the Church.

Today is our International Mass Let us to come together to celebrate and thank God for the Catholic faith shared among the many nationalities that make up our parish family here at St. Simon’s.

Next Sunday is Trinity Sunday follows Pentecost Sunday and serves as a moment to honor the complete revelation of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The long season known as Ordinary Time begins also.

Dear family members and friends, Today is the Pentecost Sunday. It is the day when the promise of Jesus was fulfilled. The first reading is a description of what happened on the day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles in the form of tongues of fire and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and they began to speak in tongues other than theirs and all the people who heard them speaking understood what they were speaking. That means there was an infilling of the Holy Spirit in the people also.

St. Paul reminds us that we all are baptised into one body by the one Spirit. Holy Spirit is the greatest gift of the resurrection of Jesus when Jesus breathed on the Apostles. On the Pentecost day there was the manifestation of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Let us pray for this infilling and power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Dear family members and friends, today we listen to the priestly prayer of Jesus. First of Jesus glorifies the father and prays to glorify Him because he had manifested the name of the Father. Thus, Jesus glorified the Father on earth by accomplishing the work given to Him. Jesus also prays for all those who believed in Him as they continue to live in the world. He accepts all them as His own and as such they are of the father also.

Jesus reveals that intimate relation between the Father, Jesus and those who believe in Him. In today’s second reading Peter refers to this relation as even to share in the suffering gospel of Jesus and be glad. The Apostles continued this relation after the ascension of Jesus by devoting themselves in prayer together with Mary and others as we hear in he first reading. Let us try to glorify the Father by accomplishing the work given to us and being one with Jesus in prayer. Amen

Dear Parishioners,

The parish website is updated with the Mass times for this week Fr. Jose’s weekly message, the weeky newsletter for this week, and church notices.

The parish office will be closed this week reopening on 19th May.

After the morning Mass today there will be tea and coffee in the church hall.

Thursday Is The Ascension Of The Lord. There will be a Vigil Mass on Wednesday at 6.30pm, and on Thursday Mass with St. Simon’s School at 1.30pm and a Solemn Mass at 7.00pm preceded by rosary in front of the grotto.

Next Week’s Second Collection is for World Communications Day. This collection supports the work of the Catholic Communications Network (CCN), the media office of the Bishops of England and Wales.

The Annual May Devotion To Our Lady is on Monday 25th  May.  We close Mary’s month of May by celebrating together on the solemnity of Mary, Mother of the Church.

The International Mass is on Sunday 24th May. Let us to come together to celebrate and thank God for the Catholic faith shared among the many nationalities that make up our parish family here at St. Simon’s.

Dear family members and friends, Love demands love. Jesus loves us and he demands love from us. It is very important to listen to what Jesus says: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” We cannot simply say in words that we love Jesus. The proof for our love is whether we keep His commandments. And to those who love Him and keep His commandments, Jesus promises to give them another Helper, the Holy Spirit.    

Again, Jesus promises that He will not leave us as orphans, but He will come again to those who believe in Him and love Him. There will be a very close relation between the Father, Jesus and ourselves, a relation of indwelling love: Being in Jesus and Jesus being in the Father, we become one with the Father because the Father will love those who love Jesus. Amen
