Dear family members and friends: “Behold the lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world.” The celebrant raises the Holy Eucharist and repeats this verse in every Holy Mass. John the Baptist introduced Jesus to the world saying this. The Jews had the custom of burdening the lamb with their sins on Yom Kippur and send them into the wilderness to be killed by some wild animals. Here Jesus is the one who carries all the sins and shed His blood in order to save the world. Jesus is the one who is to die for us to take away our sins. Let us go to Him in full faith and be baptised with the Holy Spirit in order to become children of God. Amen.

Dear family members and friends: Today we especially remember the Baptism of the Lord. As John the Baptist was reluctant to baptise Jesus, He said, “Let it be so now, thus it is fitting for us to fulfil all righteousness.” The baptism of Jesus was also an occasion to reveal himself to the mankind, as we go through the three things happened at the time of His baptism: The heavens were opened, the Spirit of God descended like a dove and a voice from heaven saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” All these three things happen during our baptism also. Let us be aware of the great place we have with baptism and let us also try to fulfil all righteousness in our Christian life. Amen.

Dear family members and friends: Happy New Year! We have already entered the New Year 2026. We pray that this year may be one with abundant blessings from the Lord. What is the greatest blessing that we can have? The Communion Antiphon taken from today’s Gospel reminds us: To all who would accept him, he gave the power to become children of God. To become children of God means to become inheritors of the grace and glory of God. In Jesus there is fullness of grace, truth and glory. Let this new year be a time to follow the true light and life. We are again reminded that all things were made in him, the Word and let that Word be the guide for our life. Amen.
